🦩4 January 26. Today’s mood: Slow miles, good decisions.

🦩 I didn’t rush. I didn’t push it. I let traffic go around me, taking unexpected detours instead. Around 1:00, I stopped beside a pretty little stream to whip up a sandwich for lunch, at which point a flamingo casually strolled by like it had nowhere else to be — unbothered, a little ridiculous and completely in its own lane.

🦩 After lunch, there were a few scenic pull-offs blended with a handful of salty breezes, good music and silly thoughts. Claus and I rolled into our camp spot tired tonight but calm, which feels like the real win. Some days aren’t about how far you go; they’re about how good it feels getting there. That little flamingo flapping its wings by my lunch stream wasn’t random. It was a tiny pink reminder to just be... myself. x Sandy 🚐🦩

Waking up to pouring rain could have meant hauling bags through puddles and wrestling wet gear into Claus, but instead everything was already tucked away and ready to go. It’s a good reminder that checking the weather isn’t just about where you’re driving. It’s about how you move through the day. A little planning keeps the work part light and leaves more room for the fun, which is exactly how road trips should feel.

🌶️ If you’ve ever wanted to feel coastlines change in real time, this is the road trip for you. This isn’t just a drive; it’s a migration of moods.

🧂 2 January 26, Salt in the Air: A Sun-Washed Series in the Making 🚐

🧂 This evening, Claus Van Bülow is parked quietly at home, but I swear I can already smell the ocean in his upholstery. There’s salt in the air — or maybe it’s just my imagination — but, either way, it feels like the beginning of something deliciously coastal and a little bit wild.

🧂Maps are spread across my dining table like tarot cards. St. Augustine. Key West. Little ribbons of highway hugging the Gulf, slipping past shrimp shacks, pastel motels, old piers and places where the food tastes better simply because you’re closer to the sea.

🧂 That’s the thing about my new Salt in the Air series. It isn’t just a road trip; it’s a mood. A slow, sun-washed drift from beach to beach, where mornings start with sea fog and coffee and end with sand on your ankles and stories you didn’t plan on collecting.

🧂 I’m stocking Claus right now: Folding cotton shirts, tucking away my swimsuit, lining up beach reads beside my bed. There’s a tiny seashell-colored notebook waiting for thoughts that haven’t happened yet. The pantry is filling up fast with road snacks and sea-tinted daydreams. Even my playlists are getting saltier. More beach, less winter please.

🧂 Sunday morning, we’ll be pointing south, chasing warm breezes and neon sunsets, following that invisible thread that runs between good roads and good days. And, while we’re away, I’ll be writing it all down — the backroads, the breakfasts, the bewitched little moments — one tide-kissed update at a time.

🪄 1 January 2026, Somewhere Between Tinsel and Tomorrow ⌛️

Dear Y’all,

🪄 The Christmas lights are still twinkling, but they feel softer now... like they know their time is almost up. The tree is standing a little crooked, needles gently surrendering to gravity. And the last of the peppermint bark has disappeared (of course, I have no idea where it went). The streets are quiet in that special New Year’s way — not empty, just catching their breath.

🪄 I always feel a little melancholy on the first of January. Christmas doesn’t leave with a bang; it slips out like a beloved guest who forgot her scarf. Suddenly, the world feels less sparkly, less sugared, less enchanted. The playlists change. The ornaments disappear. And the candles stop smelling like “winter magic” and begin smelling more like “bare branches”.

🪄 But here’s the beautiful twist: As Christmas fades, possibility quietly slips in, shimmering with a hint of stardust.

🪄 This is the moment when the map gets unfolded again. When the road trips start whispering from the horizon. When the diners and deserts, coastlines and Christmas markets all raise their hands and say, “Pick me.”

🪄 Shocking to absolutely no one, overboard is my love language and I’m fully leaning into it this year — completely, joyfully, fabulously overboard! This is the year I go all the way from the North Pole to the South, chasing snowflakes and sunsets across the entire planet. If you’re going to go, go big!

🪄 So, here I am, standing in the doorway between tinsel and tomorrow, heart full, hot chocolate in hand, adventures waiting patiently around every corner. 2026, I’m ready!

🪄 But, before I set off chasing those horizons, I want to wrap my friends in a little leftover Christmas magic. If you’re still reading this, it’s a Christmas miracle!
